“When your body feels good, you feel good about your body.”
One of our members said this to me yesterday and it blew me away. Wow. What a insight. It is just so simple and direct and true that it packs a wallop. Think about it for a moment. That simple saying cuts through so much bullshit and really gets to the heart of CrossFit.
CrossFit espouses health, fitness really, and not aesthetics. No one cares what you look like. No one cares how much you weigh, in fact, because muscle weighs so much more than fat, CrossFit women often weigh more than you would think. Always remember that, muscle weighs a lot more than fat.
Ok, so if the scale doesn’t mean much and the mirror less, what’s our measuring stick? Three things–the amount of weight on the bar, the time on the stopwatch, and how you feel. And when your body feels good, you feel good about your body. Pretty damn simple.
It is pretty natural to take that equation further. And this is the real appeal of CrossFit. When you are healthy and fit, feeling good and feeling good about yourself, then the rest of your life is better. Yes, it really is.
That’s a pretty holistic approach to weightlifting.
