CFWSC trainer Ed demonstrates one way to use bands with the deadlift.
CrossFit finds many uses for bands. The most common use for these giant rubber bands is to assist with pullups. We also like to use them with squats and deadlifts. Since bands have more resistance the more they are stretched, they provide enormous resistance to the top portion of a squat or dead, right where the body is strongest. Bands can also be used to great effect with scaling gymnastics moves, such as handstand pushups and iron crosses. They are also used to warm up difficult or injured joints such as the shoulder.
For such a simple tool, they really are just indispensable.
