I know it’s not Thanksgiving or any other special day, but today, for whatever reason, I was feeling very grateful. First off, I woke up, and my wonderful girlfriend Elisabeth and I went to Starbucks and got coffee together. It may sound weird, but I was very grateful for this little moment. After saying goodbye to her it was off to CSUMB for class. As I drove down Highway 1, I again was caught up in the moment. I had Pandora playing, and as I drove by Moss Landing I couldn’t help but feel very grateful for the beautiful place I live. The ocean looked amazing. In class, I felt grateful that my professors were so enthusiastic with the material they were teaching. I felt grateful that my parents paid for me to go to school and get my education. After I got back from class I had about an hour before the gym, so I decided to take a quick nap. Again, I felt extremely grateful that I had a comfy bed and pillow to lay down on. Then it was gym time. I always have a feeling of excitement every day I hit the gym. The community at CrossFit West is second to none. I warmed up and began to snatch with Austin. We both worked up to a 2RM in the power snatch. Even though we failed on our last set, it was OK. I was just grateful to be in the moment with my buddy throwing some weight around. As I sat down after a quick WOD, I looked around the gym and saw all the fit members lifting and bettering themselves. People were chatting and lifting, cheering each other on, congratulating each other on a job well done. It was awesome to see. I then did a WOD with Tyson. It was really grip intensive. The kicker was 100 70# KB Swings at the end. Even as I was suffering through it, down to sets of 3 and 4 towards the end, I felt grateful. People were cheering me on and pushing me to the end. I couldn’t have done it without the help of you guys (Ellie, Leah, Anna, Miranda, and of course HC) and the rest of the gym. When I finished, instead of feeling defeated that I had just gotten smoked, I felt grateful for the opportunity to be working out at such an awesome gym with a bunch of awesome individuals. It really made my day. As I write this, I can’t help but be grateful for the eggs and bacon I am about to make right after I post this! I know I am rambling here and you pretty much got the play-by-play of my entire day, but I’d like to ask everyone, what are you grateful/thankful for?
