Chris’ LA Showdown

Recently I received an email from Nick Burger, one of Chris Morse’s closest friends and a former CrossFit West Santa Cruz private client, about a trip to LA that they did last weekend.

This last weekend we went down to LA to visit our good friend, Jimmy. For weeks leading up to this trip Jimmy, as well as myself, have been putting together a throw down between Jimmy’s good friend and Chris. Jimmy’s good friend is also an avid CrossFitter who trains at CrossFit Horsepower in Van Nuys, his name is Nick Wang. Nick and Chris went head to head in a 5 minute AMRAP of 4 Dumbbell alternating one arm snatches, 8 Burpees, and 10 squats with a 45# plate.
As expected Chris represented NorCal and CrossFit West well, taking the victory with 4 completed rounds and 4 snatches, 8 Burpees, 5 squats. I should note that our friend Jimmy works for a production company in LA and we had this event at one of his co-workers BBQ. A confused crowd of Hollywood producers formed and uncertainty definitely changed to fascination by the end of the 5 minutes. Both competitors represented the sport of CrossFit very well and may have even inspired some future fire breathers.
