Clean Up

Anita and Brian

Hey, chalk doesn't grow on trees, dontcha know.

I don’t even know where to start with this photo. A huge explosion of chalk, with shoe prints around it. Not only was this much chalk spilled and then just left there, but it was actually walked through and tracked around.

Folks, this is not the way to go. Yes, CrossFit West Santa Cruz is cleaned most nights by a cadre of hard working cleaners, but that doesn’t mean that you can treat it with impunity. If you (hopefully) accidentally spill chalk (water, protein powder, or anything else), please take care of it. There are brooms, dustpans, and even two different types of vacuums–we got ya covered. I know that it is hard to be conscientious in the middle of a workout, but there is no excuse for afterwards.

I am not sure if everyone knows it, but we now have a shower. It took a while, but it now has real live hot (and cold) water, a functioning drain, and is enclosed by nice tile work and a beautiful top-o-the-line shower curtain handmade by traditional Tuscan craftsmen in Siena, Italy. So, in short, there is no excuse for bathing after a workout in the sink basin. No sink bathing, ya dig. This only splashes water everywhere, especially the floor in front of the sink where the water just pools as there is not a functioning drain there, creating even more work for those hard working cleaners.

Sure, by its nature as well as the hundred or so people who come through our doors a day, a CrossFit gym will never be as clean or neat as a doctor’s office, but little things go a long way and show a lot of respect for one’s fellow members.

Thanks everyone.
