Kayla has always had a passion for athletics. She discovering her niche in volleyball and devoted her time and practice to the sport where eventually she went on to play at CSU Chico. After two years she resigned and her competitive edge led her to CrossFit in 2010. Deciding not long after she began CrossFit herself, she wanted to become a coach to inspire people to become interested their own health and fitness. Kayla interned at Robb Wolf’s NorCal Strength & Conditioning where she shadowed many coaches including 2011 CrossFit Games 6th place finisher, Jenny LaBaw. Having been influenced to find a balance between school, training, coaching, and competing, Kayla went on to compete as an individual in the 2013 NorCal Regionals with a 22nd place finish. Kayla comes to CrossFit West and Ready from the north shore of Lake Tahoe.Besides having the desire to live by the ocean and pick up on hobbies such as surfing and skating, she has emerged herself in the Mecca of all that is healthy and active, Santa Cruz. She is an advocate of all aspects of CrossFit, especially the one she considers to be the foundation; nutrition. Kayla views food as medicine, and is constantly cooking up something delicious and creating recipes using the highest quality of ingredients. Don’t be suprised to hear her brag about her last meal, as she is only spreading the culinary knowledge! Simon found CrossFit in July of 2009 preparing to get in shape for off-road motorcycle racing in the Nevada desert. CrossFit provided him with specific elements such as endurance, stamina, and strength to help him participate and finish 100-mile plus races.Learning about the CrossFit method and consistently training gave him a competitive edge that benefited him not only in the gym, but on the trail too. Simon was hooked, and began competing in CrossFit competitions at the local and regional level. His passion for CrossFit grew as he was overwhelmed with the effectiveness it gave him in his sport and he wanted to share this passion with others. In the summer of 2010, he became a CF Level 1 instructor. Always continuing his education on health and fitness Simon has attended numerous seminars and certifications pertaining to nutrition, fitness and movement. Simon continues his training inside and outside the gym with a multitude of sports such as surfing, snow boarding, volleyball and dirt biking. You can catch Simon jumping into classes and participating in daily workouts, throwing down, sending words of encouragement, and handing out high fives!

Jenna Langseth has always had a passion for athletics and fitness. She grew up playing many sports, with a main focus in soccer and track and field. Jenna participated in track and field as a pole vaulter at California State University, Sacramento where she graduated with a degree in Kinesiology, with an emphasis in Exercise Science. While in college, Jenna found CrossFit and was immediately hooked by the physical intensity, friendly competition, and welcoming community. In 2012, she moved to Santa Cruz where she began coaching CrossFit. Jenna loves to apply her knowledge and excitement for physical fitness in the gym, while helping others reach their personal fitness goals!
