I went over to our sister CrossFit box, CrossFit Santa Cruz, today to train with CrossFit wunderkind Pat Barber. Pat was 4th place at last year’s CrossFit Games and has every intention of placing higher this year. The competition is steep, and gets steeper every year, but Pat is an amazing athlete. I have to admit that I am always, deep down, rooting for the local boy or girl. Oh, and if you see me walking gingerly around the next day or two, it is entirely Pat’s fault. I did not enjoy the workout, which, of course, means that it was great.
One of the wonderful things about CrossFit is its sense of community. You can travel all over the States, and increasingly the world, and be welcome at the local CrossFit. I love it when CF West Santa Cruz athletes visit other cities and towns and represent us at the local CrossFit. Cliff was recently at CF Nashville, Heidi at CF Marina, Samantha at CF Maui, Jessica is training at CFNYC. And we will always welcome visiting CrossFitters to CFWSC.

5 Push Jerks
Lads shoot for 135#, lassies use 85#.
If you want to go heavier, try 165/105# for 10 minutes.
