In CrossFit’s Theoretical Hierarchy of Development, sport lies at the top, above nutrition, metabolic conditioning, weightlifting, and gymnastics. Coach Greg Glassman has often said that sport is the expression of the lower levels of development. Concurrently, part of the CrossFit doctrine of fitness as laid out by Coach Glassman is to learn new sports regularly.
With this in mind, CrossFit West is pleased to present its Summer Sports Series. The Series is comprised of opportunities to learn new activities as a group with the guidance of professional teachers, all at a greatly reduced rate or free. The Summer Sports Series features mountain biking, rock climbing, surfing, and boxing. We are also looking at rowing (on Lexington Reservoir) and white water rafting. We are also partnering with CrossFit Los Gatos and the American Weightlifting Exchange in an Olympic weightlifting seminar taught by nationally ranked lifters Billy Bybee and Ian Droze.
The first of the Summer Sports Series is a mountain bike ride on Thursday, June 30th, from 5:30-8:30 in the evening. There is no cost for the ride and fully equipped mountain bikes are available for rental. Since space is limited, there is a sign up sheet at the front desk.
There will be more info about the ride and all the upcoming events posted soon.
