CrossFit is the home to a huge and widely varying variety of people.  In fact, this is one of the great things about CrossFit.  Anybody can do it. However, not everyone sees the same results.  Sure, everyone comes to CrossFit with different athletic backgrounds and even different genes, but those who make the biggest gains always have one thing in common.  It doesn’t matter whether you have a sub 2 Fran or you just cut 5 minutes off your Fran time by dropping it from 15 to 10 minutes.  The people who get the most from CrossFit share one big secret to their gains.

They want it.  They really want it.  They breathe that want in with every breath.  You can smell that want seeping from their very pores.  And you can certainly see that want in every WOD they do. They have a fire deep inside that is pushing them.  A fire in the belly.

That fire may result from a deep competitive urge and background.  It may come from the fact that they have high blood pressure and a bit too much weight and they are staring adult onset diabetes in the face.  It may be there because they just got a job as a fire fighter and they know that their fitness may very well be a matter of life and death. Whatever the reason, you can see it, that fire.

In CrossFit, if you want it, it will happen.  Because CrossFit is up to you.  You can’t get robbed by the French judge, there are no judges.  No admissions panels, no try outs, no competitors, no one to hold you back or get in your way.  It’s all about you.  And if you want it, if you have the discipline to train hard and smart, eat right, and train some more, you can make it happen.  In CrossFit, you are the master of your own destiny and I think that is a great feeling.

You want it, you got it.  You just have to have that fire in the belly.
