Everyone does CrossFit for a reason. You don’t come to something as hard as a CrossFit class day in and day out without having a reason. Some people start with very specific goals–lose X pounds of weight, be a starter on their college team next year, beat their brother who trains at a gym in another town (beat them at CrossFit, not literally), for example. Most people, however, start with vague goals of just getting in better shape, getting fitter. Sooner or later this changes to more specific goals–X number of pullups, a muscle up, a bodyweight C&J, X time on a WOD, for example. CrossFit encompasses a lot of training modalities and having a few goals will really help you streamline your training. The CrossFit West Santa Cruz programming inheritantly does this as well, with its 8-week cycles and various progressions and foci. But everyone needs their own goals, both large and small.
