REST DAY and QOD
“The principle [is] competing against yourself. It’s about self-improvement, about being better than you were the day before.” -Steve Young
“Each new day brings a new opportunity to work out and get fit. And each day presents us with a chance to improve. If we are not happy with what happened the last time we worked out, we have to make changes. We don’t have to rely on anyone else to tell us that we’re getting better. We are the best judge of how well we have done each time out. We know how much we have pushed ourselves, how far we have gone, and how much better we have done than the time before. We can’t change our bodies overnight, but our daily efforts at improvement add up, over time, to big changes.
Competing against yesterday’s efforts can mean a lot of different things. Sometimes it means doing one more rep than we did yesterday, trying out a new exercise, or making one less mistake. Sometimes being better that we were yesterday simply means getting to the gym today. Improvement comes slowly but surely and when we keep at it we will notive that we can make changes from one day to the next.”
