Rest Day and Quote of the Day
“I’m too tired. I’m hungry. I’ve got work to do. It’s too late. It’s too early. It’s too cold. It’s too hot. I don’t have time. I don’t feel well. I don’t want to go by myself. The gym’s too crowded. I don’t really know how to. All my workout clothes are in the wash. I’ll go tomorrow, I swear.
Excuses, excuses, excuses. We’ve all used them and they are all extremely effective in keeping us from our workouts. They’ve kept us from running, from playing in the tournament, from aerobics class, and from every type of athletic activity you can name. Once in a while an excuse is just our way of buying time and getting a little extra rest. However, if excuses are allowed to accumulate they build a huge insurmountable wall between us and getting in shape. The way to knock down that wall is to see where the excuse is really coming from. Is it fear of failure? Is it lack of commitment or confidence? Is it laziness? It’s just as easy to talk ourselves into working out as is is to talk ourselves out of it. And we know we’ll feel better once we’ve done it. Think of getting it done and how happy we’ll be- no excuses.”
