New CF West Trainer-Dave Millar

David on his way to a 9th place finish at the 2009 CrossFit Games in Aromas.

CrossFit West Santa Cruz is happy and proud to introduce our new trainer David Millar.

David is a mechanical engineer by day, CrossFit athlete/coach in his free time, and an avid adventurer.  He enjoys hiking, slacklining, working on ninja warrior skills, and opening presents (who doesn’t?). His philosophy on CrossFit as well as life is what sets him apart from most athletes. David has a strong belief in balance and moderation. He has been able to achieve success in sports and CrossFit while maintaining sanity and happiness in his personal life. He geeks out on nutrition, sleep, sports philosophy, stress reduction and basic body mechanics.

David was introduced to CrossFit in 2005 while playing NCAA Division 1 soccer at UC Irvine.  He has coached soccer, strength & conditioning and CrossFit for the past several years.  He enjoys working with athletes of

all skill sets to help them achieve their goals. He is a CrossFit level 1 trainer and has attended specialty seminars in olympic lifting, endurance, nutrition, and self myofascial release. He is an experienced CrossFit competitor and has performed well on multiple occasions including a 9th place finish at the 2009 CrossFit Games.

I have known Dave for many years and he is a welcome addition to our excellent coaching staff. We feel very lucky to have him at CF West. He will be coaching the Saturday classes and filling in as needed. Please join me in extending him a very warm welcome.
