One Down, Four To Go!

Sam, Connor and yes, even Desmond, throwing it down during WOD 12.1.

The first week of the 2012 CrossFit Open for CrossFit West proved to be a success!! With over 100 athletes doing Open WOD 12.1, the sense of community brought forth to the gym was practically tangible. Our top place finisher goes without saying to Emmett Ziegler, the myth, the man, the legend. By the way if anyone wants to know where Emmett draws his inspiration from, check out his athlete profile page here.
I am very impressed with the amount of people who decided to do this workout more than once. As part of the Open, there will always be opportunities to do each workout multiple times in order to improve one’s placing, but I can honestly say I did not think I would do this one twice. In my opinion 7 minutes of continuous burpees is about six minutes and forty-five seconds too long. However, just about everyone improved with their second go. CrossFit West has some extremely mentally tough athletes walking in and out those doors.

Kevin gets airborne!!

The Open is just getting started so stay tuned to how all our athletes are doing. If you were not at the gym today, I would definitely recommend coming down and experiencing for yourself all the support that was seen. There was something very special at the gym today and I am very proud to be part of such an incredible community.
