Paleo Update

Two months and counting. Or are you? It’s been 2 months since we started the Paleo challenge and most people are so happy with the way they are looking, feeling, and performing that it has no longer become a countdown for them, but rather, a way of life. When we put the challenge on the table (simply eat a Paleo diet and doing CrossFit at least twice per week) there was naturally a bit of skepticism and worry.


The concerns came in powerful waves: Will I be able to do this for 3 whole months? No gluten? What is gluten in anyway? You mean I can’t eat bread? What? No sugar? Oh my God, what am I going to eat? How am I going to feed my family? What are my kids going to think? I’ve got weddings to attend, parties, work functions, etc, etc.


But just as I imagined, after a little coercing by us here at CrossFit West, many gave this Paleo challenge a shot. Many, digging deep to find a bit of courage, made the commitment to bring this CrossFit thing to a whole new level. Many came, many saw, and many are conquering.


I receive emails periodically from people containing testimonials about how much the Paleo diet combined with CrossFit has changed their life. Week after week I see people breaking their personal records, leaning down, and glowing with more confidence than even I thought possible when they first walked through our doors. As I organize photos from day 1 into folders on my laptop in preparation for end of the challenge, I am shocked how dramatic some of the physical changes have been and it makes me very happy.


For those who either did not join the challenge or were not part of CrossFit West upon it’s launch, remember it is never too late to bring your performance and well-being to the next level. Talk to the people around you who are newfound Paleo believers–they will tell you all about it. Ask them to show you their journal and see how much their numbers have improved or to see a picture of them before they started. You will be amazed.


So here we are, 5 weeks left, but hopefully not counting anymore.
