Regionals!

The last WOD of the Open Qualifier. Rich bangs out WOD Sunday afternoon.

After months of hard training, CF West Santa Cruz is proud to announce that we have qualified a team and an individual athlete, Alicia Bailey, to the NorCal Regionals. Congratulations to everyone! The hard work put in by all team members and the deep-seated support of the entire gym truly makes this a CrossFit West community accomplishment. Thanks to all who participated, judged, cheered and supported us during the Open. We are proud of you guys.

The Regionals are June 3-5 at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds. Please mark the date on your calendars and plan on cheering our team on.

The Paleo Challenge is officially over this week. Retesting will be done through Sunday. We will do the WOD on Monday and the CrossFit Total on Wednesday. The pullup and row test, as well as any make ups, can be done at your convenience through Sunday. Sunday is also the due date for testimonials and photos. Here is a timeline and more info for all Challenge participants. Time flies when you are having fun, but it has been 3 months and it is time to show what you have got. Lift big, run and row fast, and pull hard. Remember, prizes, cash, and undying fame (just ask Leah and Gideon, the first 2 winners) are on the line. Good luck everyone.

CF West member and 6am charger Angela Galindo is intimately involved with Gemma, a local non-profit dedicated to helping women in Santa Cruz County transition back into the community after incarceration. This is what Angela has to say about Gemma,

We assist them in becoming empowered, productive, and independent members of the community. In this position, I have learned that there is so much more to this population than meets the eye. I have learned that somewhere along the way, these women got off track and found themselves in jail and needing a hand of support to get them back on their feet. I have also learned how deserving and vulnerable this population really is, and that some of these women never got a break until finding Gemma.
Gemma is part of next week’s Human Race. If you are interested in sponsoring Gemma in the walk, please click here. For more info, visit the Gemma website or contact Angela directly.
