CrossFit is pretty well rounded fitness. After all, that is the idea. As a whole, CrossFitters are a lot stronger than they look. At the 2009 CrossFit Games, held this last weekend, 22% of the male competitors were able to deadlift over 500# less than an hour after a brutal 7k hill run, and a lot more came very close. Poundage like a 500+ deadlift is nothing to sniff at in any circle.
However, tell someone someone that you can snatch over bodyweight, and you will be met with a blank stare. It’s just not that impressive to most people even if the vast majority of gym goers don’t stand a chance. So, here are a couple of tricks guaranteed to impress the natives.
Pick up a stool or chair by the leg. This trick takes lots of grip and forearm strength, which CrossFitters have from all the pullups, barbell pulls, and kettlebell work that we do.
The muscle up is always a crowd pleaser. Rings or bar, it just doesn’t seem easy.
The flag is another impressive stunt. I find it much easier to do on a ladder than a bar. A rope seems just out of this world.
So, give these tricks a little practice. They’re a lot of fun.
