I know, I know, everyone is sick of hearing me talk about the deadlift. Not the deadlift again, you are thinking. The thing is, you see, is that if you hit the gym and do nothing but heavy deadlifts, then it was a good day.

Yes, deadlifts are that important. Increased deadlift capacity will result in increased performance in every aspect of CrossFit. That simple truth is why we stress them so much here at CF West Santa Cruz.

However, you don’t want to be tied to one deadlift training plan. As with everything in CrossFit, mix it up. Deadlift for heavy singles and 1RM. Deadlift 5×5, or a set of 15 or 20 reps. Or even a single movement mindf$%k day consisting of 100 deadlifts. You can deadlift suitcase style with one hand, or turn it into a clean pull.
